Kari Nguyen, M.S. CCC-SLP received her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences from the University of Houston, and her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. She has spent the past 5 years working with pediatric patients in a variety of settings including the schools, in the home, and private outpatient clinics with experience in early intervention, speech and language delays, social skills, and augmentative and alternative communication.

Kari understands the importance of building language skills in a family’s native language. Being bilingual herself, she is able to reach families who speak both Spanish and English. Cultural diversity is something to be celebrated and she is committed to honoring these differences throughout the treatment of care. She is an empathetic and open-minded speech therapist that truly loves her job and working with children. Kari is passionate about developing treatment plans that are individualized, evidenced-based, and above all, fun!
My Passion
My passion for communication disorders began right after high school, during a silent retreat I had taken as part of a college course. With only the 3 months of Beginning ASL I had learned that semester to help me, I spent 3 whole days without the capability of speaking. What a challenge it was! I understand that it is sometimes easier to isolate from others when we cannot communicate, but everyone deserves to build relationships and have a voice, no matter the medium used.
WHEN KARI IS NOT DOING THERAPY OR RESEARCH,
SHE ENJOYS
volunteering for local causes, trying new restaurants, attending comedy shows with her husband, and playing fetch with her dog, Cato.
